WayGO Transportation will provide free rides to polling locations in Wooster on November 3. This marks the first time the operator has offered the service. The program launches after a county-wide transit system in Wayne County ceased operations in 2025 due to funding issues. WayGO began serving the Wooster area in 2025 to fill the gap.

Kevin White, the transportation manager for WayGO, said access to a vehicle is a major barrier for voters. "If you want to go vote or even if you want to go to a grocery store, it's just very difficult," White said. He noted that low population density in rural areas makes public transit challenging. Residents in Wooster can call WayGO's dispatch line to schedule a trip.

Other transit agencies across Ohio are offering similar benefits. The Akron METRO Regional Transit Authority will waive fares for METRO Direct and METRO ADA riders in Summit County. Stark Area Regional Transit Authority will offer free rides to all passengers in Stark County on November 3. Lake County’s Laketran and Geauga County’s Geauga Transit will provide complimentary rides to polling places and early voting sites. Riders must book these trips at least one day in advance.

Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority will run full weekday schedules on Election Day. A spokesperson confirmed that normal service will continue. This allows commuters in the region to use standard bus and rail lines without special fare adjustments.

Rideshare companies are also participating in the effort. The Vote to Live Foundation is distributing vouchers for $25 to $30 rideshare trips in Cleveland, Akron, and Columbus. Voters in Cuyahoga County can receive free Uber rides through the program. Lyft is offering a 50 percent discount on trips to polling places, capped at $10 off. Users must enter the code VOTE26 in the app before November 3.

Volunteers in rural areas are coordinating private vehicles for those who need them. Dave Devey, the Democratic Party Chair in Carroll County, said his team is arranging rides as needed. Devey emphasized that the effort focuses on access rather than political preference. "Frankly, it's none of our business who they vote for," he said. "We just think it's important for everyone to have the opportunity to be able to vote."

Voters using these services should check specific reservation requirements for their local agency. Most programs operate on November 3. Some services require advance booking to ensure availability.
