Three dollars from every box office ticket sold at the upcoming Christmas Gift and Hobby Show will go directly to local children’s programs. This financial commitment marks the event’s designated Charity Day, scheduled for Thursday, November 12. The funds will support the Boys & Girls Club of Indianapolis, a youth organization serving families across the city.
Tami Bailey, the manager of the show, described the partnership as a natural fit for the holiday season. "We like to partner with community services, and I think that Christmas is a great time of year, and they do so much for children in the Indianapolis area, so it was a great partnership," Bailey said. The collaboration aligns with the event's long history of community engagement.
The show has operated for 77 years, becoming a multi-generational tradition for many Indianapolis families. Bailey noted that the event attracts attendees who have participated since their grandparents’ time. "We have generations of people that have come to the show. Their grandparents came, their parents came, and now they’re coming and bringing their kids," she explained.
Pam Lozano, director of resource development for the Boys & Girls Club, emphasized that the influx of funds helps maintain accessibility for families. "It’s going to continue to open the door and make sure there are no financial barriers for any of the families we serve," Lozano stated. The organization aims to ensure that economic status does not prevent children from accessing their programs.
Lozano also highlighted the emotional impact of community support on the children. "The biggest thing we like to convey to our kids is that they are seen. They come and they are in a safe place, and they get to just be a kid," she said. The partnership reinforces the club's role as a stable environment for youth development.
The show features 300 exhibitors and includes specific programming days throughout the week. Hero Day will take place on Veterans Day, November 11, followed by Teacher Day. Girls’ Night Out is scheduled for Friday, which will also feature an appearance by Hallmark Channel actor Robert Buckley. Buckley is known for his roles in The Christmas House and One Tree Hill. Santa will also be available for photos during the event.
The 77th annual Christmas Gift and Hobby Show will run through the holiday season. Attendees can contribute to the Boys & Girls Club by purchasing their tickets at the box office on November 12.
