Dublin Port Seizure: €296,000 Cannabis Cargo Removed From Road Network

The driver of a vehicle arriving in Ireland from France was arrested on Halloween after officials seized a large quantity of herbal cannabis at Dublin Port. The removal of this shipment from the supply chain keeps an estimated €296,000 worth of illicit drugs off the market.

Revenue officers stopped the vehicle during routine profiling procedures. Upon searching the car, they located approximately 21.2 kilograms of herbal cannabis concealed within the interior. The estimated street value of the seized material exceeds €296,000.

Gardaí attached to Store Street Garda Station took the driver into custody. He remains in police custody while investigators examine the suspected drug importation operation. Authorities are currently working to identify the origin of the shipment, its intended destination, and the criminal networks involved.

The seizure was part of a joint effort between Revenue and An Garda Síochána. Both agencies stated the operation targets organized crime groups responsible for importing, selling, and distributing illegal drugs across Ireland. The coordination aims to disrupt trafficking routes before products reach local communities.

Revenue has asked businesses and members of the public to report information on drug smuggling. Individuals can provide details confidentially through the Revenue hotline at 1800 295 295. The agency continues to monitor port activity to identify vehicles entering from France and other foreign jurisdictions.
