A 13-year-old Bordentown Township girl died Sunday morning from injuries sustained in a Friday afternoon collision.

The accident occurred in the 500 block of U.S. Route 130 near a QuickChek store. Emergency personnel found at least two electric scooters on the ground near a crosswalk. A black pickup truck with front-end damage was stopped at the scene. Police, firefighters, and medical crews treated the student before airlifting her to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The victim was a student at Bordentown Regional Middle School. Township officials sent a statement to the community on Sunday. The message noted that the town is heartbroken over the loss of the young girl. Officials offered condolences to her family, friends, and classmates. They also acknowledged the first responders who provided care.

Neighboring resident Abby Beckner observed the event from her home. She stated that electric scooters are often present on that stretch of road. Beckner described hearing many screams on Friday afternoon. She noted that such noise is common when children ride scooters and bikes in the area. She looked out her window and saw vehicles stopping in the middle of the intersection.

Township leaders said no words can ease the loss. They stated that the entire community is grieving. The statement emphasized that the town is holding the family and classmates close in their thoughts.
