The nonfiction division of RadicalMedia has reached a permanent labor agreement with its staff. The production company, known for titles such as Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich and the Oscar-winning Summer of Soul, finalized the contract with its unionized workforce this week.

Approximately 50 employees in the nonfiction unit voted on the five-year agreement last Friday. Ninety-five percent of the voting members supported the deal. The Writers Guild of America East represents this group, which includes archival producers, story producers, field workers, and postproduction personnel. The union's governing council formally signed off on the terms on Thursday.

The new contract establishes specific financial protections for the staff. Minimum wage rates will rise by two percent every year of the five-year term. The agreement allows workers to enroll in the Entertainment Industry Flex Plan. RadicalMedia will make daily contributions toward each employee's health insurance plan. Standard provisions for paid holidays, bereavement leave, minimum rest periods, and comp days are also included.

A specific clause addresses the risks of nonfiction production schedules. The company must pay employees if a show is canceled with little advance notice. This provision responds to a common concern in the industry regarding short-notice production pauses.

Michael Rauch, vice president of film, television, and streaming for WGA East, released a statement welcoming the outcome. He described the result as a victory for workers who had lacked these protections for years. Rauch stated that the deal ensures rest periods, pay for short-notice pauses, and health care contributions. He noted that RadicalMedia joins a list of other organized nonfiction companies, including Jigsaw Productions, Story Syndicate, and Vox Entertainment. Rauch said this trend signals that union standards are becoming the industry norm.

The union's bargaining committee called the ratification an important milestone. Committee members emphasized their pride in securing Flex Plan participation, noting that health insurance is often difficult for freelance workers to obtain. The committee views this contract as a step in organizing more nonfiction work.

RadicalMedia is led by Justin Barocas. The company has produced various factual programming, including the Conversations with a Killer franchise and The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare. The Hollywood Reporter contacted the company for comment on the new agreement.
