8.4 million ticket requests were submitted for a single group stage match at the 2027 Cricket World Cup. The International Cricket Council announced on Monday that this figure exceeds the demand for the tournament final. The contest between India and Pakistan is scheduled for October 10 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The final is set for November 21 at the same venue, and it has attracted nearly eight million requests.

This specific matchup has historically been the most popular game of the tournament, just behind the championship match. The current numbers represent a shift in that pattern. The two teams are assigned to Group A for the 2027 event. They may meet again during the Super Seven stage or in the final, depending on their performance in the initial round-robin format.

The ICC placed India and Pakistan in the same group through a private ballot process. This is the fourth consecutive 50-over World Cup where the two nations share a group. Group A also includes Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and one qualifier. Group B features New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh, and a second qualifier.

The tournament consists of 57 matches spread across 12 venues in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The schedule runs from October 7 to November 21, 2027. Namibia will host men’s World Cup games for the first time. Zimbabwe will introduce its new stadium in Victoria Falls to the international cricket circuit.

The online ticket ballot launched on October 1. It closes at 22:00 GMT on November 21. As of Sunday, total requests exceeded 120 million. These applications came from 2.8 million distinct fan accounts across 193 countries. South Africa, the United Kingdom, India, the United States, and Australia lead the registration numbers. Fans from the three host nations submitted 14.9 million applications.
