Champions League group stage play continued on Tuesday, November 3, with a decisive result in Barcelona. The home side secured a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at Camp Nou. The match featured three goals from the Catalan club and none from the English visitors.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the seventh minute. He cut inside from the left and placed a left-footed shot into the far corner. The goal gave Barcelona an early lead against a Villa side that had settled into a deep defensive block. John McGinn attempted long passes to Nicolas Jackson, but Villa struggled to create sustained pressure.

Raphinha extended the lead in the second half. He scored his second goal of the season in the 52nd minute via a deflected shot. This goal marked his 18th in 13 appearances this season for Barcelona. Pedri played a key role in the buildup, driving through the center to set up the chance. Raphinha added a third goal in the 65th minute. João Cancelo delivered a low cross from the right, which Raphinha finished neatly.

Unai Emery made triple substitutions to refresh his midfield in the final 30 minutes. The changes aimed to increase pressure on Barcelona’s high defensive line. Despite the efforts, Villa remained at arm's length from the goal. Their closest chance came from a header that clipped the post during a corner kick. The match ended with a steady emptying of the stadium as the final whistle blew.

The atmosphere at Camp Nou was affected by ongoing renovation work. The stadium is currently in a state of mid-renovation, with debris and construction materials visible. The new tiers at the top of the stands are already in place. Internal fixtures are being laid between hoardings and fences. The drab November night highlighted the skeleton of the future structure.

Hansi Flick fielded what appeared to be his strongest team, with Yamal on the right and Anthony Gordon on the left. Rodri and Pedri formed the midfield pivot. Rodri was substituted at half-time and replaced by 19-year-old Marc Bernal. Emery picked a team designed to press and stifle space, relying on defensive risk-taking to counter Barcelona's possession style. Villa remain well-placed in the first phase of the Champions League table.
