The Philadelphia Eagles fell to the Washington Commanders on Sunday night, losing 27-10 to extend their losing streak to six games.
The defeat drops the Eagles to a 2-6 record in the National Football Conference East division, placing them in last place within the group.
The team entered the contest with a roster that had won the Super Bowl in February 2025 and captured the division title in the two preceding seasons.
Injuries to key players have plagued the roster since the start of the campaign, creating gaps that coach Nick Sirianni says are affecting overall performance.
The Eagles scored all 10 of their points in the first quarter and failed to add any further touchdowns in the remaining three periods.
Offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's unit managed only 268 total yards of offense, including 91 rushing yards, while failing to sustain drives in the second half.
Quarterback Tanner McKee completed 23 of 34 passes for 212 yards and one interception.
McKee was sacked five times and lost a fumble during the contest, finishing with a passer rating of 72.2.
A late third-quarter strip sack occurred with the Eagles trailing 13-10, ending a drive that had the team in scoring position.
Running back Saquon Barkley rushed for 30 yards on 13 carries, averaging 2.3 yards per attempt, while managing hamstring and back issues.
Barkley scored on a three-yard direct snap in the first quarter, but the ground game contributed little in the second half.
The defensive unit allowed Washington to gain 339 total yards, including 135 rushing yards, as the Commanders scored 27 unanswered points in the second half of the game's scoring flow, though the Eagles did score in the first quarter of the game, the Commanders outscored them 17-0 after the opening drive ended, effectively making the remaining points unanswered in terms of the final score progression from the Eagles' last touch, but technically the Eagles scored first. The Commanders scored 27 points to the Eagles' 10. Jayden Daniels threw for 240 yards for Washington. Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith recorded sacks, and Andrew Mukuba forced a fumble that was recovered by Zack Baun. The Eagles have allowed at least 100 rushing yards in all eight games played this season. The team faced multiple penalties in the fourth quarter that stalled a drive on Washington's 13-yard line. A false start by Markel Bell ruined a fourth-down attempt, and an illegal formation penalty by Jordan Mailata erased a successful field goal. Kicker Jake Elliott's subsequent 41-yard attempt hit the upright. Mailata noted that the penalty drained the team's momentum. Sirianni stated that the coaching staff must improve its attention to detail to change the results. The Eagles will face their next opponent in the coming week, continuing their season with a record of 2-6.
