Maureen Koopman opened Home for the Holidays for its eleventh season on October 17 at 13383 Madison Avenue in Lakewood. The retail space will welcome shoppers through December 23.
The store operates as a seasonal pop-up that relocates each year. It currently stocks products from independent brands, artists, and small-batch food producers based in Cleveland and surrounding areas. The inventory includes candles, home accessories, paper goods, specialty foods, and items for children and pets.
Koopman describes the shopping experience as "Feel Good Shopping." She says the goal is to help customers find specific gifts for recipients who are difficult to shop for. The store also features select dates where customers can meet the makers, taste their products, and hear about their creative processes.
The founder notes that the store supports local small businesses. She states that knowing a purchase aids a small enterprise adds to the value of the transaction. The space is designed to allow customers to browse without a specific list or immediate holiday intent.
Koopman is an interior designer and entrepreneur who also founded The CoLab Concepts. She has lived in Lakewood throughout her business career. The shop marks its first year operating from the Madison Avenue location.
The store serves a community that has supported the venture for a decade. Koopman says customers have kept the business running by returning annually and recommending it to friends. The business has maintained its presence in the area for eleven consecutive holiday seasons.
